This year, the team at Commonwealth Smiles stepped up in a big way by participating in our 2nd Annual Flutie 5K presented by Bluegrass ElderLaw. With 87 registered participants lacing up their shoes and joining the course, the energy and community spirit were truly inspiring. Together, we were proud to raise $28,348 in support of this meaningful cause.
From the early morning registration check-in to the final finishers crossing the line, the day was filled with smiles, cheers and determination. Whether our participants ran, walked or rolled, the message was the same: we’re running for more than just time, we’re running for impact. The event provided an opportunity not only to show physical stamina, but also to show heart and commitment to the greater mission.
The funds raised will make a real difference. By joining this event, Commonwealth Smiles aligned ourselves with the mission behind the Flutie 5K, helping families and individuals affected by autism live life to the fullest. Although the flagship event of the Doug Flutie Jr. Foundation for Autism is headquartered elsewhere, satellite events like ours play a key role in widening the reach and awareness of the cause.
Our contribution of $28,348 thus stands as a testament to the generosity and engagement of our patients, team and community partners alike.
Looking ahead, we’re already excited for next year’s edition. With the momentum built from 87 participants and more than $28K raised, the bar has been set high, but that’s because our community has shown it wants to do big things. To everyone who registered, donated, volunteered or cheered from the sidelines: thank you. You helped Commonwealth Smiles show that when we come together, we can turn 5K into far more than a race. We’re looking forward to continuing the tradition, growing the team, and making an even larger impact.
